Baths of the Popes

These historic thermal baths take their name from Pope Nicholas V, who built a palace here in 1450 to enjoy the healing properties of the Bullicame spring. The sulfur-rich waters have been famous since Roman times and were even mentioned in Dante’s 'Inferno.' Pilgrims today often visit these springs to soak their muscles and recover from the long trek through the Tuscan and Latial hills.
